As A Man Thinketh was written by James Allen in 1904. A contemporary of Wallace D. Wattles, author of The Science of Getting Rich, Mr. Allen was born in Leicester (central England) in 1864 and died in 1912. Although his writing career was short — only about nine years — he wrote 19 books, many of which are still in print today. His second book, As A Man Thinketh, is a classic and deservedly so. But Mr. Allen didn't realize its power and value: He had to be persuaded by his wife, Lily, to publish it at all! Fortunately for us, he did. And if you're curious about the title, Mr. Allen found it in the book of Proverbs in the Bible: As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he — a sentiment expressed in most all the wisdom literature of the world's major cultures and religions. This is the actual 'Foreword' from the book... This little volume (the result of meditation and experience) is not intended as an exhaustive treatise on the much-written-upon subject of the power of thought. It is suggestive rather than explanatory, its object being to stimulate men and women to the discovery and perception of the truth that They themselves are makers of themselves by virtue of the thoughts which they choose and encourage; that mind is the master-weaver, both of the inner garment of character and the outer garment of circumstance, and that, as they may have hitherto woven in ignorance and pain they may now weave in enlightenment and happiness. —James Allen Ilfracombe, England Price: $0.00 # WBZ0000 |
